Caprii Jump

I don’t think I’ve ever had more fun working on an animation than this little clip. The whole path of her movement, going from a wideshot on the right to a close up on the left, then blasting quickly to the right. The rhythm and timings there were a little tricky to figure out, some of the earlier pentests stalling in weird locations and moving way too quickly from the recovery of the jump to the anticipation of the next pose. Keeping all the movements to arcs was also difficult, and even then it’s arguable how well I did it in some sections. The animation of the hair was also really tricky to get right and even now I’m not positive I did it well enough.

The things I am happy with however was the postprocessing. Overall, this beast went through 3 different software, the pentest in Toon Boom Harmony, the inking and coloring in Clip Studio Paint, and compositing the background with the animation, the camera shake, and those GORGEOUS rim lights were on After Effects. It was the first time I messed with effects in AE in this way, and I definitely want to find where the ceiling is there.

Oh right, this is also a WIP for a much bigger project, I’ll probably eventually pull them all together under one page but for now I’ll make them all separate entries.
