Concepts
These are mostly just a single idea or movement that I used for practice, but is still polished enough to warrant showing off.
Wanted to practice rotating objects, and moving cameras. That led me to animate a spinning sword that gets flung around a space. Pulled it into a decent ending and here’s a resulting movement I’m proud of.
Made a hallway in Blender and threw a camera through it. Rendered it out, and traced over it, then animated a character running through it, dodging obstacles. Playing in this space taught me some skills in treating 2D as though it were 3D, and some spatial reasoning skills. There are some movements I’m not too pleased with, but I think it’s worth it for how much I learned from it.
Rotoscoped a skateboarding video I found, and used it as a base for a university project in my final semester. To make it feel more original than just a rotoscope, I gave the character a floating cat head and a floating board, then added some flares here and there to really make it mine. This is one project I’m very proud of.
