TEAR THE SKY

Inspired by a song: Break the Sky - the Hush Sound.

This painting was done listening to this song on repeat over the course of a week. This was around the time I was going all in on my University Grad project, and I needed some extra practice playing with color and unique shapes. I had also been on a month or two break from painting, doing only animation in that time. This work was meant to push me back into the painting headspace and shake off the rust. It’s certainly got some issues, the shirt was pretty experimental, and it looks very unusual compared to my other works. The face I’m also a little uncertain about, in the quality of drawing and boring expression. Compositionally, as well as the color and value however, especially in the background, I think its one of my strongest works.
